About RCS

trusted partners delivering A Better Building Experience

About RCS

Founded in 1984 by Steve Bachman, RCS was built on the principle of doing the right thing for our clients and partners. What began as a small team focused on retail projects has grown over the past four decades into a leader in national general contracting, construction management, and facilities maintenance.

As we've expanded, so has our expertise — well beyond retail. RCS now holds licenses in all 50 states, portions of Canada, and Puerto Rico, actively building coast-to-coast year after year. This provides us with the strength of a national contractor combined with the insight of local markets. Our diverse portfolio showcases this evolution, as we continuously adapt to meet the changing needs of clients across various industries.

Recognizing that our original brand no longer captured the full scope of our capabilities, we’ve embraced a new identity. While staying true to our roots, we are moving forward as simply RCS—a name that reflects our broad range of services and our ongoing commitment to delivering a better building experience for every project.

As we look ahead to the next 40 years and beyond, our dedication to quality, integrity, and efficiency is stronger than ever. RCS is proud to be the trusted partner for our clients and trade partners, ensuring that our process consistently delivers a better building experience.

(RCS) in 1984 with a vision to uphold ethical practices and a steadfast commitment to doing the right thing while providing the highest quality of service in the construction industry. Now, 40 years later, his vision remains the cornerstone of RCS’s success. In 2022, Steve transitioned from his role as CEO to become the Chief Development Officer, while continuing to own the company and staying actively involved in various client relationships.

With over four decades of distinguished experience, Steve’s journey in the construction industry began in 1975 as a carpenter during summers.  He later became a Traveling Superintendent, and Manager of Construction for a national retailer where he gained invaluable insights into the complexities of project management and execution. As a forward-thinker and industry pioneer, Steve’s leadership has driven RCS’s success, helping to shape the future of construction and leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered during the building process.

Steve is widely respected for his expertise in various aspects of construction, real estate, development, construction planning, design-build, environmental and economic sustainability, and value engineering. His relentless determination to deliver the best possible outcomes for clients sets a standard of excellence within the commercial construction industry. Under his guidance, RCS has earned a reputation for innovation, integrity, and collaboration.

Beyond his professional achievements, Steve is deeply committed to serving his community and those in need. He is an active leader through his involvement with St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Union Gospel Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Mission Jamaica, March of Dimes, and various wildlife organizations and boards.

What does a better building experience mean to Steve?  "At the core of this mission is the principle of service— prioritizing our clients' needs above our own. It's more than just constructing buildings; it's about cultivating trust and meaningful relationships. When service is our guiding value, it brings out the best in us, which ultimately leads to creating a truly better building experience."
